Star Sailor League Finals’ Qualifiers Are Complete

Albeit, the star performers today were Robert Scheidt and Paul Cayard, more important to most of the competitors was what was taking place mid-fleet. This is because the Qualifier race for the quarter finals was being organized in Star Sailors League Finals.

The team who finishes the in 3rd to 10th positions is going to progress into the Quarter Finals. It is from there that the top 5 will move on to the Semi-Finals to meet the Qualifier finisher who has been placed second. The top 3 Semi-Finalists will proceed to meet the winners of the Final’s Qualifier. All these are just single race affairs that are going to take place on Saturday.

Quite unfortunately, the teams that couldn’t make it to the top 10 have been knocked out. Four races had taken place on Montagu Bay plateau. Conditions with 10-21 knot northeasterly and developed to 15-18, shift for the 4th and the finals.

The competitors who stood out were again Henry Boening and Robert Scheidt had been the stand out competitors. The Brazilian duo has managed to win 3 out of 4 races. 8 among 11 races was held in the time of the Qualifiers. The duo finished on the podium. It is their consistency that made them finish the Qualifiers with 22 points ahead of Brian Faith and Mark Mendelblatt with Frithjof Kleen and Diego Negri being in the third position.

Scheidt mentioned that they had a rig check on Thursday and had made some adjustments. With this, the boat felt a lot better and they were confident with the boat speed. As a matter of fact, they also had a good start and had managed to choose the right spots that put them in the front right away. After this, they had good speed and all these brought about a great difference.
